Thoughts:
I gave this episode 4.5 stars, because we finally get to see what happened to Tara and Heath after they left the outpost. If they ever get back to Alexandria, then they are in for a huge surprise. This episode seemed to go back and forth between what happened to Tara and then the present. I thought that was a good idea, because then we can get a general idea of what happened.
How about those sand zombies? We finally understood why Tara was washed up on the shore. But how about Rachel? That blonde girl at the beginning of the episode? She's all ready to kill zombies, but the other one, Cindy, isn't. When Rachel was ready to put an end to Tara, Cindy yells out, "Stop! Don't!" To which Rachel replies, "We don't have to do this" Cindy said, "We need too" Replied Rachel, "I want to"
They introduced a new group--a female group. We know nothing of them, or why they are an all female group--not that it's a bad thing!
Then we flashback to Tara's memory. When she and Heath were in the RV, did anybody else notice the butt of that gun she was holding? It looked familiar, right? Lucille! Either it was in possession of somebody from the saviors, or a group who were subjected to the Saviors. Either way--an easter egg.
During a different flashback, while her and Heath are out by all that sand and all those freakin' zombies come out. I about pissed my pants--What the crap?!
Back to the group...
When Tara was out running, she was stopped by another member and was told all about the Saviors. How that group was terrorized by them. How they killed all their men and any boy over the age of 10--so that explains why they're an all female group and why they're so protective. They got away from the Saviors? What? I'll wager it's only a matter of time before the Saviors find them--or maybe they don't really care because they have Rick's group, The Kingdom, and Hilltop to terrorize.
Finally, the last flashback! When Tara had gone back to where she had last seen Heath, I seriously thought he was a zombie! I had to go back and re-watch that scene! Thank God it wasn't! (Even though I don't really like Heath. He doesn't really bring anything to the table, in my opinion).
Back to the present, where we remain.
When Tara takes refuge for the night and she finds that Doctor bobblehead, she's instantly reminded of Denise. She had out a map--she's going back to Alexandria.
When she comes strutting up the the gates of Alexandria, wearing those bright pink sunglasses, she was happy to be home, she was going to see Denise and the rest of the group.
And then Eugine greeted her, and in that moment, the look on his face was the moment that Tara realized something was terribly wrong.
Either she was told about Denise or about what the Saviors had done and how Abraham and Glenn were dead. She's in with Rosita in the house, still holding that doctor bobblehead. Rosita told her that they don't have to stay there, that they could go out and do something. Then she asked Tara if she had seen anything else while she was out there--maybe another group that could help kick the Saviors asses. To which Tara replies, "I didn't see anything like that when I was out there" <-- either she's lying to protect the group, or she doesn't want Rosita to know... Possibly both.
You really had to pay attention to this episode, because of little easter eggs like that.
Did anybody else notice the bloody axe in the opening credits? Is that foreshadowing Rick getting his hand chopped off? So many speculations! Maybe some of the blanks will be answered in next weeks episode!
Cheers,
~Rio
